“Tennis elbow,” also known as lateral epicondylitis, is a medical condition involving the elbow and surrounding area. This condition is called “tennis elbow” because it is often associated with repetitive arm and wrist movements, such as those involved in tennis and other sports, but it can also affect people who do not play sports. The main cause of tennis elbow is inflammation or tendonitis of the tendons that connect the forearm muscles to the lateral epicondyle of the elbow, which is a small bony protuberance on the outside of the elbow.
